The "Ultimate" Battle Written by Dancer_Pokefan - Edited by Shadree --------------------- Narrator: Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town has now conquered the Johto League & is on to new adventures in the south. His first destination is the Suicide Mountain Peak gym. "Brock, how far are we, we have been walking thru these mountains for days!!!" Misty complained. "It shouldn’t be far, the map says we’ll reach Hidden Valley Town by tonight" stated Brock. "HOW many times have we heard THAT before!!!" Ash & Misty exclaim in unison, along with a sigh and a sweatdrop. Amazingly enough, they reach Hidden Valley Town on schedule (much too Ash & Misty’s surprise). "The 1st thing I want to do is find the town gym & challenge the leader for my first Rocky Mountain League badge!" says Ash. "Ok, but let's make a stop at the Pokemon Center to get a check up on our pokemon" says Brock (in usual gaga gaga-over-Nurse Joy fashion) "Ok, but you’d better behave yourself, Brock or I shall have to use reinforcements!" said Misty, as she was taking hold of Brock’s ear. "Owwwww! That’s hurts!" Brock cried. Ash just smiles and sweat drops. Soon they arrive at the Suicide Mountain Peak gym entrance. Ash knocks on the door. "Hello, I’m Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town and I have come here to challenge you to a match!!!" he yells. The door opens by itself. "COME IN!" a voice booms. The three step in to find a staircase with a sign saying "All challengers must climb the stairs. All accompanying the challenger may take the elevator to the left" "See you at the top Ash!" Misty & Brock exclaim. "Great!" Ash says. He was just about to start the ascent when he saw the fine print on the sign. It read "Challengers may use only 3 pokemon (No flying pokemon allowed) to help get to the top" "Ok," Ash says "Chickorita! Cyndaquil! and Pikachu, I choose all of you to help me get to the top!" Ash and his pokemon start climbing the stairs. A quarter of the way up, Ash trips over something. It turns out to be a trigger and the stairs fall out right under his feet! Chickorita uses its vine whip and pulls Ash to safety and then transports Ash and the other two pokemon to the other side so they can continue their trek. "I guess I’ll be a little more careful where I step" Ash says. "Cynda" "Chika" "Pika, pika" his pokemon agreed. They’re almost to the top when a Golem appears & stands in their way. "Cyndaquil! Use flame thrower!" Ash commands. The flame thrower weakens the Golem. "Now Chickorita! Use sweet smell!" "Chiiika" The golem starts to fall asleep. "Now Pikachu, thunder bolt now!" "Piiiiiikkkkkaaaacccchhhuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!" With that, the golem is defeated. "Great job everyone!" Ash congratulates his pokemon. The rest of the climb goes pretty smoothly. When they reach the end of the staircase, there is another sign that reads: "Congratulations! You’ve made it this far! Now challengers must climb the rest of the way up WITHOUT the use of any pokemon!" "WHAT!" Ash cries. "But if I want that badge I have to follow the rules." He sighs & recalls his pokemon. ----------- AT THE TOP ----------- It was a long hard climb but Ash did it. He passed the gym leader’s test and now he was ready to battle for an Avalanche badge. At the top of the climb Ash finds a battle arena outside at the peak of the mountain. "Ash!" Misty & Brock run over to him. "We were getting worried, ...you took so long" Misty said. "Yeah, we were wondering what you faced down there" Brock added. Ash was about to tell them of his adventure when they all heard clapping. "Congratulations! You made it to the top! Now you can have a match with ME!" With that a figure stepped out of the shadows, a woman of about 5ft 6in tall with icy white-blonde hair & crystal blue eyes dressed in a silver pantsuit with a silvery blue cloak & hood studded in diamonds. "I’m Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town & I've come to battle for an Avalanche badge!" "And I’m..." "Very beautiful!!" Brock finished. "You’re eyes are as pretty as the diamonds on your cloak...Owwwwwww!" Misty grabs Brock's ear. "Come on Brock, let’s go" she stated. "Ahem, as I was saying, I’m Crystal, the Suicide Mountain Peak gym leader and I accept you’re challenge! We will use 6 pokemon with no time limit" said Crystal. "Fine with me!" stated Ash. "I’ll let you make the first move Ash" said Crystal. "Be careful Ash, she seems awfully confident" Brock said. "Cyndaquil, I choose you!" Ash cried. "Cynda" it said, ready to battle. "Ah, a Cyndaquil huh? Ok then, I'll choose you Webber!" "Golduck" "(gasp) That’s a Golduck, a well trained one! Better not let your guard down Ash" warned Misty. "Ok Cyndaquil, flame thrower!" "QUUUIIILLL!" " Webber! Hyperbeam now!" "Gooolllldduuucckkk!!!!" "Cyndaquil no!" Ash cried. "Cyndaquil is unable to battle, Golduck is the winner!" said the referee. "Oh no! I wonder what pokemon Ash will choose next?" mutters Misty. "Noctowl, I choose you!" Ash says as he throws the pokeball. "Noctowl...hypnosis!" Golduck tries to fend off the attack but it's too strong. "Golduck it unable to battle, Noctowl is the winner!" cries the ref. "Hurray! Great job Noctowl, keep it up!" cries Ash. "I wonder what pokemon Crystal will choose next?" wonders Brock. "I choose you, Shifter!" "Ditto" "Oh no, a Ditto!" Misty & Brock say in unison. "Shifter, transform into Noctowl" which it does instantly. "Noctowl, peck attack!" orders Ash. "Shifter, hypnosis!" cries Crystal. "Noctowl, don’t look into Ditto’s eyes! Now, gust attack!" Noctowl's attack blows Ditto away. "Now Noctowl, swift attack!" commands Ash. A direct hit! Ditto sprawls on the floor. "Ditto is unable to continue battling, Noctowl is the winner!" cried the ref. "Oookay Diamond, I choose you!" cries Crystal. She throws the pokeball and a Lugia appears. "Diamond, tackle attack!" The tackle connects & Noctowl is knocked out of the air. "Noctowl can you still battle?" Ash yells. Noctowl nods. "Good! Now...time for hypnosis!" "Diamond, hyper beam!" The hyper beam connects and knocks Noctowl out of the match. "Noctowl is unable to battle, the victory goes to Lugia!" shouts the ref as he points the flag in Crystal’s direction. Ash thinks: ‘Hmmm Heracross doesn’t stand a chance, Cyndaquil’s still too tired.....I KNOW!’ "Bulbasaur go!" "Bulba!" "Bulbasaur, razor leaf!" "Diamond, use gust attack!" commands Crystal. Bulbasaur's razor leaves are blown away. "Your razor leaf is no good Ash, Diamond’s gust is too powerful!" gloats Crystal, thinking she has the match won. "Ok, bulbasaur, solar beam!" cries Ash. "That takes time, soo Diamond, hyperbeam!" But before the Lugia could gets its hyperbeam out, Bulbasur fired a solarbeam & hit target. "Lugia is unable to battle, Bulbasur is the winner!" calls the ref. "That was impressive Ash," laughs Crystal "I don’t remember seeing a Bulbasaur that could use solar beam that fast! But that won't help you now, GO Ember!" A charizard appears. "Bulbasaur return! Go, Tauros!" Ash yells. "Tauros, use fissure" "Ember, fly then use siesmic toss!" "That won't work this time....Tauros you know what to do!" said Ash. When Charizard came in for the toss, Tauros tackled it. Charizard is weakened. "Now Tauros....fissure!" Ash shouts. Tauros fissure attack was so strong that it split the ground right between the charizard’s feet. "Ember....return!" Crystal returns the Charizard to its pokeball just before the ground splits under its feet. "Toros is the winner!" gestures the ref. "Ok now for some high voltage fun......Sparky go!" cried Crystal. A Raichu steps into the arena. *this is gonna be easy* Ash thought. "Tauros return! Pikachu, you're up now!" "Piiikkkaa!" he says, sparks coming from the electric sacks on its cheeks. "We can beat this slowpoke.......agility Pikachu!" "Pika!" Pikachu agrees and takes off. "Sparky, use your agility too!" ordered Crystal "Now use mega punch!" The attack connects and Pikachu goes flying. Pikachu manages to get up. "Pikachu, thunderbolt" yells Ash. "PPPPIIIKKKAAACCCHHHUUUU!!" "Sparky, use your tail as a ground!"cries Crystal. "Rai!" "Now Sparky, use YOUR thunderbolt" "Rrrraaiiiiiiccccchhhhuuuuuuuuu!" "Pikachu, use your tail as a ground too" "Pika!" he says, nodding. "Pikachu, agility in stereo!" Ash shouts. Pikachu doubles the speed. "Ha! Your raichu may have learned agility but nothing matches the speed of a Pikachu!" "Sparky keep trying to hit that Pikachu with your thunderbolt!" It does so, but keeps missing. "Ok time to quit playing around, Sparky...THUNDER!!!" "RRRRAAAIIIIIIIICCCCCCHHHHUUUUUUUU!" "Pikachu, you know what to do." said Ash. Pikachu turned its tail toward the attack while flattening its body on the ground and absorbed Raichu’s thunder attack. "Now Pikachu, give that Raichu a power failure......use thunder!" "PIKKKKKAAAACCCHHHUUUUUUU!!" Pikachu’s thunder attack power, doubled from absorbing Raichu’s earlier attack, hits Sparky hard and the Raichu falls flat on the floor. "Raichu is unable to battle. The winner is Pikachu!" calls the ref. "Way to go Pikachu!!" exclaimed Ash" "P-pikachu!" "Which pokemon will Crystal choose now?" wondered Misty. "I’m sure that saved the strongest for last" stated Brock. Suddenly, a familiar balloon appears. "Prepare for trouble!" "Make that double..." "Oh, not you three again!" Misty & Brock say together. "Hey, can you guys come back another time? I’m having a match here!" yelled Ash. "We’ll leave just as soon as you give us that Pikachu" states Jessie. "That’s right" agree James and Meowth. Team Rocket try to grab Pikachu by using one of their extending gizmos. "Pikachu, thunderbolt 'em!" Pikachu does so and an explosion soon follows. "JAMES! I can't believe you forgot to make those pika-grabbers shock proof!!" Jessie rants. "It didn’t cross my mind!" yells James. "HOW can anytang cross ya mind when ya don’t have one!!!" Meowth adds. "LOOKS LIKE TEAM ROCKET’S BLASTING OFF AGAIN!!!" they all yell as they disappear. "Okay, where were we...oh! Now it's time for the ‘ultimate’ pokemon....Goooooo Ultimate!" Crystal throws a pokeball and a Dragonite appears. Misty & Brock gasp. "Ok Pikachu, if we can beat one dragonite, we can beat another" Ash said. "Not so fast!" yells Crystal. "This Dragonite is the strongest in the area, it has beaten all other trainer’s Dragonites" "This Pikachu is also special!" adds Ash. "Pikachu, agility then use quick attack!" "Pika!" "Ultimate, tail whip!" order Crystal. The attack hits Pikachu. "Now use your thundershock!" This attack also hits its target. "Pikachu now use thunder!" cries Ash. "Ultimate, fly!" shouts Crystal. It does so, almost breaking the sound barrier in the process. "Okay Ultimate, let's end this.......use dragon rage" Pikachu tries to dodge it, but he can’t. "Pikachu is unable to battle! The winner of the match is dragonite!!!" calls the ref. "Pikachu, are you ok buddy?" mutters Ash, crawling to its side. "If you want a rematch, I’ll give you one Ash" yells Crystal. "You can count on that!" cries Ash. Later at the pokemon center, Pikachu is getting treated. Nurse Joy comes out. "Nurse Joy, is my Pikachu gonna be alright? asks Ash. "Yes with some electricity replenished in its body and a good rest, it will be fine" Joy says. "Whew! That’s good to hear!" sighs Ash. He sits on one of the benches and Misty sits next to him. "Do you have any ideas on how to beat that Dragonite Ash?" she asks. "No, I don’t. Dragonite’s the ultimate pokemon, none of my pokemon stand a chance! Maybe this is as far as I’m destined to go Misty. Maybe I should just go back to Pallet Town." "Don’t say that Ash, we’ll find a way to beat it.....together!" Misty tells him. ---------------- 2 DAYS LATER... ---------------- Ash re-enters the Suicide Mountain Peak gym. "Crystal, I want that rematch you promised me!" he yells. "Okay Ash, ready to lose again?" she replies. "Not this time" growled Ash. "We’ll use only one pokemon each - no time limit" "Fine" agrees the gym leader. "I choose Ultimate!" "I choose...." "Pika pika!!" Pikachu steps up to the plate. "Pikachu are you sure you want to do this?" asked Ash. "Piika!" he replies, nodding. "Okay then.......Pikachu, agility!" "Ultimate, fly! Body slam!" calls Crystal. "Pikachu, thundershock......NOW" cried Ash. Dragonite was right over pikachu, so the attack hits home and dragonite is weakened. "Ok Ultimate, fight fire with fire! Use your thunderbolt!" shouts Crystal. "Pikachu use your tail as a ground!" orders Ash. "Ultimate, flame thrower!" "Pikachu dodge it!", which he does. "pikachu, thunder!" which hits the Dragonite. "Ultimate, tail whip!" This hits Pikachu and he goes flying........it looks like this it the end! "Pikachu, can you still battle?" asks Ash. "P-pika-pikachu!" Pikachu suddenly starts to glow. "Its evolving!!" exclaim both Misty & Brock. "Awwww!" cries Ash. Pikachu stops glowing. "Rai Rai!!" "Ok Pika....I mean Raichu, let's win this!" yells Ash. "Ultimate, hyper beam!" orders Crystal. Raichu remembers when it battled the Dragonite in the Orange Islands as a pikachu and so it uses its tail as a spring board, landing on the Dragonite’s head. Ash sees this. "Ok Raichu, use thunder...now!!" Raichu does & knocks Dragonite unconcious. "YAAAAAAY! We did it Raichu!!!" yells Ash while dancing with Raichu in his arms. Crystal walks over to him. "You did a really great job Ash! You have very much earned this." She presents to him an Avalanche badge. "Yeeeeaaaaahhh! I won an avalanche badge!!!" exclaims Ash, as he assumes the classic stance with badge in hand. "Rai Rai!!" Raichu pops in. "Congrats on your Pikachu evolving when it did Ash! That shows how much it cares for you,....it evolved for you." explains Crystal. Ash looks at Raichu. "Thank you Raichu, you’re the best pokemon a trainer could ask for" "Raichu!" he replies and they hug. Narrator: Now with his first Rocky Mountain League badge and a new look to an old friend, our hero is one step closer to being a Pokemon Master.
